Middle school level Science encompass all the important science concepts. These diverse concepts are crucial for a student to learn in grade 6 to grade 8. The students continue with their scientific fundaments like inquiry based learning and critical thinking. They apply the basic mathematical concepts learned in the previous years. Middle school science Curriculum is a year long curriculum for each grade. It is made up of three courses for three respective years of Middle School. They are life science, earth science and physical science. These sciences help students to ask questions and define problems. Students will experience hands on classes and learn through group classes. The students will spend time in labs to gain practical knowledge. These courses help them to access read-world connections.
The life of middle school science class are usually for 6 graders. It introduces students to topics of animals, plants and humans. They also learn reproduction, microscopic organisms,bacteria, fungi and cell division. They are taught genetics and plant reproduction. Also included are ecosystem, food chain and evolution. Students are introduced to real animal dissection through anatomy and taxonomy.
The Earth Sciences are for 7 graders. They teach about the planets and and the various components that make them. They also learn about earth’s history, geography and atmosphere. They will explore weather, climate, seasons and solar systems. They learn about earthquakes, volcanoes, eclipses, sun and the moon.
The physical sciences are for 8 graders. It comprises of non living things and systems. This inorganic world has periodic tables, chemical reactions, motion, temperature and more. They explore matter, both the physical and chemical properties in different states.
